SOROPTIMIST HOUSE OF HOPE, INC.
Here is a little bit about this wonderful organization and ongoing member of the Greater Desert Hot Springs Chamber!
Soroptimist House of Hope in Desert Hot Springs was founded in 1981, with a mission to provide a safe, nurturing environment in which clients can learn the life skills necessary to recover from their addiction and become productive members of society.
The Soroptimist House of Hope, Inc. is organized exclusively for charitable purposes and is a non-profit corporation. The agency operates one residential recovery treatment home in Desert Hot Springs for chemically dependent women. In addition it operates one transitional living house in Banning for women recovering from chemical dependency. The recovery home provides women with a 45 day treatment program in a safe family atmosphere.
The Transitional Living House, known as Hope’s Horizon is also the corporate office. There women must have completed the 45 day treatment program to be eligible for admission, pay their own way and maintain a sober way of life while job searching along the way.
The Agency now has 5 employees, all of which are graduates of the Soroptimist House of Hope. We have one Executive Director, one Director/Program Manager, two assistant Directors and one Transitional Living Manager/Office Asst.
The Executive Board of Directors consists of 9 members, including members of Soroptimist clubs, former Soroptimists and local community members.
The Soroptimist House of Hope is licensed and certified by the State of California and partially supported by the Riverside University Health System – Behavioral Health Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program, a number of foundation grants and private donations. The Hope’s Horizon Transitional House is supported by Soroptimist member clubs, grants and private.
The State of California authorities and the County have mentioned that the Soroptimist House of Hope, Inc. is one of the very best recovery houses in the entire state, if not the best!
House of Hope is celebrating its 35 years of operation this year and will be having an open house on September 17, 2016.
